NSW Consultant, Jennifer Gray made this beautiful canvas for a friend.

A close-up – we began with the Paris-Istanbul template in the top left-hand corner and worked to fill out the page from there.  We added a few circles and an oval and finished off the canvas with sands and lace figures.

AZZA Surprise pages are a great new idea – but remember will only work in the AZZA albums as they flip open.  The new colours are wonderful too!

The AZZA Decorative Sands are easy to use.  They can be used free-hand together with Decorative Stencils,  Stamping or used to create a shape with the stencil being used.  If you have a selection of colours including black and white, remember you can mix colours to get the right tone of sand colour for you page.  Remember the sand needs to compliment your page and not take your eyes away from the photos.

In these two samples, the area where the sand was to be applied was covered with glue using a Glue Pen and the sand was sprinkled onto the glue immediately.  Once this has  been done the page needs to be left until the glue has had time to dry.

The other method of getting the sand onto the page is by using Jack Paper or Double-sided Glued paper ADH 106 in the AZZA Catalogue $13.50 for 4 A4 sheets.  This is quick and easy, the shape is cut out of the Jack paper. The paper removed from the one side of the shape and is then stuck onto your page, removing the second side of paper and the sticky surface is now ready for you to sprinkle the sand directly onto it.  Sprinkle liberally and then return the excess sand to the jar.

Lace figurines can be used together with the sand, they look amazing.To do this, stick the lace figurines onto the Jack paper before applying the sand.

Sand can also be used on a canvas. Here I used the Ellipse shape, the heart is also covered with sand.

Saturday morning class – Hazel, Joy, Dallas, Venie, Leonie and Sue.

We had a wonderful class at Alice in Paperland on Saturday morning. At the beginning of the class we spent a bit of time learning to use the AZZA Decorative Sands.

The Ladies produced some great pages and were happy to share them with you:

Lovely page by Leonie and the texture of the sand really went with the theme of the page. Leonie used figures within the sand.

Venie produced a great page and perfect for a bit of fun and use of the sand. We cut the rings out of the Jack paper with a punch and then used various colours of sand.

Beautiful page by Sue, having just returned from Vietnam!! She finished off the page with the sand in the centre.

We used a Glue pen to stick the sand to the page. Stamp used was from the Holidays Theme.

Although no sand on this page, a lovely page by Dallas using the Swing stencil.

School and Love Texture Stencil

If you don’t own a Texture Stencil or Texture Stamp set, take a look at how easy they are to use and how quickly they can fill a space on your page!  A lot of Ladies overlook the texture stencils, but you can have so much fun with them.  You can use your inks or chalks with them depending on how dark or light you want the image to be.  If light, you can use that space as a background for a Heading or Figures to enhance the theme.  If you cut paper out to the shape of the stencil, you can use your texture stencil to give them a different look.

Note the bricks are not all one colour, like bricks, I have inked some darker than others and each brick lighter to darker.

The Love texture stencil has been used in contrasting colours on the paper and the page.

Use a gel pen to enhance some of the shapes.

Here I have used the brick stencil as a background for my heading, so used chalks.

Here the texture stamp TAM 512 – Texture has been used on the paper cut-outs.
