Beautiful Birds in June

Page created by Lyn Holmes – Western Australia

These lovely Sulphur-crested cockatoos visited us daily in Sydney so the bird themed AZZA products released this month were perfect for me to get the photos into an album. The AZZA double page was ideal as I had so many photos, I created the layouts with the AZZA Himalaya stencil cutting the front page back along the lines of the stencil. I used the Beautiful Birds embossing folder in a few ways. On this front page I used an off-cut of the page for the embossing, but placed ink on the embossing folder (the new Prairie green) before putting it through the machine. With this folder do make sure you place your paper in your embossing folder to get the best images for your layout. I also embossed the small strip on the right of the page before using the Pretty Birds cutting die for the feathers.

On the inside spread I used the new Prairie double-sided paper with the Oatmeal ink on the embossing folder. This is the same decoration as the front page but with a different effect. I used the Pretty birds cutting die on the right-hand side layout, using the cut-out image of the birds higher up on the page. I used both a white and yellow gel pen to give my birds their little yellow crest. I used the die cut on the Prairie double-sided paper as it was quite a large piece of paper and needed to be decorated, but I did not want anything too heavy. I completed the decoration using the iZink White texture paste with the texture stencil, the images created matched the images on the Figure sheet. The stamped image was from the large set of stamps released this month. There is a matching die set for this stamp set which makes it quick and easy to use on the page. The birds in the stamp set can be coloured to suit the birds on the layout.

Deb Byrne created the page below using the AZZA Brooklyn stencil. Deb has also used the set of dies for her feathers and an older AZZA die for her leaves.

AZZA Europe – Glasgow stencil

This lovely interactive page above shows how the stamps can be coloured to suit the photos on the page.

Below Sue Talbot in New South Wales shows how both the stamps and dies can be used as decoration to match the birds in the photos.

Sue’s second page, using the AZZA Glasgow Stencil once again shows how decoration can be used to highlight colour in the photos.

Decoration by Chantal Rigaud Chouan, Europe.

Chantal has used an image from both sets of stamps released this month. She shows how to decorate a layout, blending the images to complement the photos and not take the focus away from them. Aqua pens, alcohol pens, inks and chalks can be used to colour in the stamped images. She has completed her page with two colours of AZZA cord.

These products are also perfect for card making.

Barbara Rae, AZZA Consultant in Western Australia created this lovely page using the smaller 20 x 20 stencil GREECE on a 30 x 30 page. Lovely to see the Spring flowers of the Northern Hemisphere.

I thought I would show you a few more 30 x 30 layouts that have been created with the 20 x 20 stencil showing how versatile it is. Is it also great to make a mini album, AZZA has 25 x 25cm pages that can be purchased to create a mini album. These pages have been punched, binding discs of your choice of colour are needed to complete the album.

If you already have some of the AZZA 25 x 25 stencils, these can all be used on the smaller pages, 30 x 30 pages or as a title page on a 30 x 30 layout.

Also released this month was this great set of dies, released previously as part of a Box set. These dies are a wonderful addition to your tool box as they can be used with any theme on the page. All Mail Out subscribers will have received this set recently.

The stencil itself is golden and for decoration, two sets of stamps, a sheet of elegant figures and gold stickers, patterned papers and a sketch sheet. Not shown in the image is an Art Deco stamp/die, embossing folder (shown below) and the die set featured above. Limited numbers.

For the Golfer in the family, a stamp and die set were released this month. These could be used on a fun mini golf page or for the more serious competition pages. I created the page below using the Around the World stencil on sale this month. I used both an image off the set of stamps and a die cut in the centre of the layout and the lovely little Golf cart, also on the set of dies. I used an off-cut from one of the photos behind the Golf cart to blend with the photos and not show the gap between photos behind. Resin dots completed the decoration.

I created the double page layout below with the new Oatmeal colour page and the single AZZA Around the World stencil. The front page was cut along the lines of the stencil so the photos on the back page can be seen. I used the AZZA Sage cutting dies – DIE 163, for my title. The letters were cut out of off-cuts from the photos which is always great as the tones are then well matched. As a background for the title I used the Birds texture duo. The Photography embossing folder is very versatile and obviously will go with any theme. I completed the page with Resin dots and Linen ribbon. The paint brush images are from an older AZZA stamp set Art & Crafts, I also used the new stamp set Shadows.
