African Animals

This month’s decoration products are all about African animals, so whether you have been to the Zoo to see them or have managed to live or travel to Africa, these are perfect for your ‘Safari’ photos. I was born and lived for many years in Zimbabwe, Southern Africa and have travelled home on many occasions so as you can imagine, I will use these products a lot.

AZZA Australia re-released the older stencil Chante as it is a lovely stencil to work with and it was not certain that the new single stencil Inspiration would arrive on time. Luckily, our shipment did arrive on time so both single stencils were released this month.

This AZZA stencil is a good one to begin with if you have only just discovered the AZZA way of scrapbooking. Herewith a page I have done with some wonderful elephant photos. I have completed the page using the Safari Texture stencil, stamps and dies. I couldn’t help but add little pink hearts for the elephants I love so much.

A second page I created with the stencil shows just how many photos you can get onto an AZZA double page. I have a lot of photos from a day out in a small town in Collie and didn’t want too many pages in my album for one day, so this stencil was perfect: 15 photos in one layout. Note the top left hand corner has been cut out to show the photo on the back page.

The centre spread of the layout below shows where I have cut the corner of the page along the lines of the stencil.

I also created a few layouts with Chante to show the different ways it can be used. I had an enlargement that I had not placed in an album yet and it took on the shape of the stencil well. I completed the shape with embossed paper and finished off with the lovely Safari Figures on a black background.

The inner shape in the stencil can be used whichever way suits the photos you want to place in the layouts. Here are some of the layouts created over the years. The Cruise layout is by Deb Byrne and the Indian wedding is by Barb Rae.

The Safari die set is wonderful to work with, don’t forget to give your elephants eyes, the AZZA Resin dots or pearls are perfect for this. You don’t have to use all three elephants every time as seen on samples below. With the little hearts you can use a second colour by placing paper behind the cut out shapes. Keep the hearts you have cut out for use on another page. The monkey on the tree can be cut off if you only want the lovely tree on the page.

DIE 317

For the elephants above I have used the AZZA ‘Imitation leather’ paper, it is perfect. These sheets also make great covers for mini albums and are actually 34 x 34cm and available in quite a few colours. I used the blue but a sample of the cream is below so you can see the texture of the sheet.

REL 016

I have created an AZZA mini album with the new products and the Caracas Trio stencil. This stencil is only available through Consultants.

I used the new Broadway Alphabet die on the cover. These letters are larger than any released previously.

Die 319

Have fun with them – I used them on two cards for ‘Father’s Day’ this year and Christine has used them for a title on the scrapping page.

For the card in the middle, I actually placed the dies on the white card mount and ran it through the machine to cut the letters out of the card, this way the colour of the card will show through the mount. Ramona in Germany shows the same effect below on an ‘Invitation’ card. It gives a lovely 3D effect.

Carole in Europe has created a lovely ‘Mood board’ for decorations created with both old and new AZZA Safari products.

The large stamp set can be used for both cards and the scrapping page.

The first sample below by Julie Kecskes in Europe is quite striking. She has combined the Tropical forest dies and the Safari stamps. The image she has created with the stamps would make a beautiful card too.

In the mini album above created with the Caracas Trio stencil, I used both the Safari micro and large stamps set for decoration. I also used the vehicle which is found on the figures sheet. I had some of the older figure sheets with the smaller African animals which worked well with the new products.

On the cover I used the Safari micro stamp with a little Diamond Black iZink Glitter paint. The title is from the Silhouette Figures set and the frame I ran through the machine with the Weave embossing folder.

EMB 105

This is a great embossing folder as it can go with any theme on the page. I have used it below with the Manaus stencil and a single enlargement. I have once again used the Broadway Alphabet die for the title. Note how I have cut the bottom of this vertical double page to the shape of the stencil.

Whilst I had Manaus on the desk, I had another occasion with a lot of photos but I did not want loads of pages covering one night only, so once again used a double page for the layout. It came together beautifully. I used the shape in the centre of the top page as a window through to the back page.

For the front page I used AZZA chalks to complete the pattern of the stencil. I used the Tropical Forest and the Sage Alphabet die for this layout.

On the page above I used only one image from the large stamp set, swinging it 180˚, then completed it with chalk pens. This time I managed to include 16 photos into this layout. The Tropical Forest dies were perfect for this layout.

From 16 photos to one – Jocelyne created this lovely page with the Manaus stencil above. I created the Heritage page below following the layout in the Studio booklet by Laurence Chabbey.

This shows just how versatile AZZA stencils are.
